5 Party Destinations

Sure we travel for great cultural experience, immaculate beaches, or adrenaline-inducing activities… but sometimes we are just looking for amazing night life to highlight events like Spring Break, bachelor/ette parties, or just being off work! If this appeals to you, than here are a few spots you should check out:

1. Ibiza, Spain

All the big DJ’s have played in a club at Ibiza at some point in their careers.  There is an international jet-setter feel to the clubs in Ibiza and while there are the 24-hr trance parties and raves, I prefer going to see my fave DJs.  It can get pretty expensive real quick, with most entry tickets for popular names hovering around the 100$ mark.  Then you have to factor in your refreshments and don’t think opting for water will save you some cash…Pacha actually holds the unofficial record of most expensive water bottle at 10 Euros for a measly 300ml.  Yikes!

2. Las Vegas, USA

Good ol’ Las Vegas.  I hate gambling unless it’s the penny slot machines, but who can resist the glitz and bright lights of the strip?!?  Las Vegas is a great place if you are travelling with a group of ladies because I guarantee that just walking the strip you will get approached with free entrances (and often free drinks) for a club event happening that night.  Take advantage especially for the more ‘exclusive’ clubs where line-ups can get wild.  If you are not sure where to stay, I loved the Paris for it’s great value and location.

3. Cancun, Mexico

The ultimate spring break getaway known for booze and wet t-shirts.  As an undergrad student I had to participate in this spring break ritual at least once (minus the wet t-shirt of course).  Much like Ibiza, it ain’t always cheap to visit the clubs or bars but luckily in most places the drinks are included in the entry fee so no worries once you are inside about spending a small fortune.  If you hate dancing and/or drinking this is definitely not the place for you, but I will say I was immensely impressed with the size of the venues.  I would check out Senor Frogs (day or night) and Dady O was also pretty cool with it’s cave-like atmosphere.  Of course, there will always be a special place in my heart for Coco Bongo not everyday you get to dance on stage with a Madonna look-a-like!

4. Montreal, Canada

I have no shame in a little self-promotion, but lets face it the best parties in Canada are right here.  There is something for everybody: raucous pubs- check, chill lounges- check, pulsing clubs- check, slick jazz bars- check.  If you can’t find it in Montreal, it frankly doesn’t exist 🙂  Even in the dead of winter, our enthusiasm cannot be dampened and expect large crowds just about anywhere on the week-end.

5. Goa, India

An unexpected discovery in a fairly conservative country is the city of Goa.  An old Portuguese settlement, this is the city where Indians and foreigners like to let loose and have fun.  Beach parties, clubs, and the very generous happy hour offerings make this an ideal place to have a good time.  While it’s not the 24-hr party that you might find in Ibiza, Goa provides a nice intersection between beach and historical sites during the day and nightly festivities.  A stop at the Kareoke bar is a must!  Walk down the street and you will be surprised at just how much fun Indian people can have!
