Cross-Country Skiing at Mont-Orford National Park

I had prepared this post some time ago, and never got around to finalizing.  It seems moot at this point given that the snow has FINALLY disappeared, but I still wanted to highlight what a great park Mont-Orford is.  In fact the park is a great camping and hiking destination, so even though winter as passed it is definitely worth a trip out to the Eastern Townships.  Enjoy!

With the temperature hovering around the freezing point it was one of the last days to ski before the snow disappeared.  I headed out to Mount-Orford because I had heard the park had some of th best trails for cross-country skiing.  Indeed, I was really impressed with the park.  The trail I did was well groomed on the roads that lead to the campsites during the summer months, which means there re two sets of trails in each direction with the middle dedicated to skate.  As the trail borders the water it is more windy than a forest trail but the views are fabulous.  The park also has a dedicated room for prepping your skis with the appropriate wax.
