Boston, MA Day 1 Adventures

In keeping with my travel diaries on my blog here is a quick highlight of my first day in Boston, MA.

Thumbs up to Plattsburgh International Airport.

There is a reason that 2/3 of the license plates in the airport parking were from Quebec.  Plattsburgh airport has 4 gates and about 5 flights per day, which isn’t great except when they happen to have a direct flight to Boston.  I love flying from Plattsburgh because it was so layback, quiet, and honestly felt like I had chartered the plane for myself (I was 1 of 5 people on the flight).  I will definitely do it again!

Rain rain go away.

Yup, it’s been dreary weather over here.  I don’t mind the rain but when you add in wind and low temperatures, it’s a drab.  I felt like I needed a third or fourth hand to be able to juggle my umbrella, camera, map, and phone.  On the bright side, the rain kept most people away and it was nice to walk the quiet streets and snap photos without any obstacles!

Beacon Hill homes are gorgeous.

The lovely staff where I am staying recommended I get myself lost in the Beacon Hill neighborhood north of the city and I am glad I followed his advice.  The streets are reminiscent of West Village in New York with tall townhouses sporting colorful doors and flowers lining the sidewalks.  Lookout for an entire post dedicated to the homes of Beacon Hill.

I want to transform the Boston Public Library into my personal study.

With a wet coat and sore feet, I made a pit stop at the library (the first in Massachusetts) and it was so worth it.  I am a huge sucker for grand study rooms with green study lights and wood panelling.  The most unexpected part of the library was the outdoor courtyard.  When the weather is warmer and drier, this must be the ideal spot for coffee and homework.

Science Museums remain my favourite attractions.

Science museums make learning fun and engaging.  The one in Boston, was no exception with a ton of interactive displays for all ages.  My favourite were the fossils, the petrified wood in particular which I think would make a fabulous coffee table top.  We all have dreams 🙂

That’s it for now!  Tomorrow I have plans to follow the Freedom Trail and try some local food stops.
