5 Tips to get Beach Ready

Are you lucky enough to escape the cold this winter break? If yes, here are my tips to get your body beach ready!  No extreme circuit training here 😉

1. Hydrate. With grey skies and cold weather, my skin gets pasty and dried out.  To get your skin hydrated and glowing before heading out into the sun drink tons of water. A popular trick is to add in some lemons and/or cucumbers to your water as they act as a diuretic and help reduce bloating. Plus they make plain water taste that much better.

2. Get Moving. I refuse to write, “work-out” or “go to the gym” because for many people it’s just not feasible due to a variety of reasons (all completely justifiable). Rather I recommend to move, that is go for a walk, sledding with your kids, haul in fire wood for the heater… These are all legitimate ways to get your blood circulating and stirring up a sweat flushing out all the toxins.

3. Exfoliate and Self-tan.  Slough away all that dead skin with an exfoliator, my fave is Flake off by  Soap and Glory. To bring some colour to your skin do NOT head over to a tanning salon. Rather spend your money on a good self-tanner like St-Tropez. You will look amazing in all your pictures even on day 1.

4. Get a Pedicure. If budget permits, a pedicure is a nice treat for your feet that have been trapped in hot winter boots. It’s amazing how great perfectly painted toes can make you feel.

5. Avoid Processed Foods.  Similar to drinking water, I highly avoid processed foods in general but especially before a beach vacation. Yeah the sodium will make you bloat but worse the nutrition content is usually pretty low making your energy levels also on the down side. Not the way you want to start a vacation.

What are tips or tricks for looking fab on a beach vacation?
