It’s Apple Season!

The weather has turned cold and the days are getting shorter, sure signs that fall is upon us.  Although the leaves are persisting it was time to head outdoors and pick some apples.  For a second year I headed to Cidrerie Verger Léo Boutin ( 710 Rang de la Montagne) in Mont-Saint-Grégoire, QC.  I enjoy this spot for a number of reasons.  They have a vast amount of apple trees and your typical varieties like Lobo and Macintosh.  They offer a tractor ride to get to the orchards which is so much fun for both the young and old.  I also like that they have a restaurant with homemade goods but also picnic tables and outdoor playground for families.  For those who enjoy all things cidre, ask about the complimentary tasting.  I had the chance to sample about 10 different local products that ranged from iced cidre to prune and cranberry-based liqueurs.  Finally, the absolute number 1 reason for visiting this orchard is the doughnuts.  These large fried balls are like an apple muffin passed in cinnamon and sugar.  So amazing and worth every penny!  Despite cloudy skies and cool temperatures, it was definitely a fun outing for everyone!
