Wow, what a long, eventful day of travels! It started at 3 AM this morning with an email notice from United Airlines advising that my flight had been cancelled from Montreal to Chicago (and onwards to Seattle). While I managed to snag a seat on a different routing my travel partner was put on standby for the second flight since it was overbooked. We were quite anxious since the next available flight would have been 6 hours later! Luckily, we ended up on the same flight… However, the re-routing was a bigger detour including a 6hr flight from Newark to Seattle. Let’s put that into perspective, it’s the same amount of time to fly to Paris and I am just going cross-country. Plus we have a 2.5 hour drive upon arrival to Leavenworth. Sigh… Not much by way of physical activity today. Thankfully the drive out to Leavenworth went smoothly and we got there for about 5PM. The town is small but just the cutest thing ever. For the Gilmore Girls fan out there, I imagine this is what Stars Hollows must look like complete with a gazebo. We were pretty exhausted so we just walked around a bit and headed to the icicle brewery to sample their beers and have some snacks. It’s a small but quaint place with an outdoor heated terrace. Plus the beer was excellent. Tomorrow I am planning on seeing more of the town and doing some hiking.
