Browsing through an airport magazine a few years ago I came across an article about Chris Myden, founder of a unique travel deals website for Canadians. Essentially, he scours the web looking for cheap flights through either special airline sales or deep reductions on tickets by booking engines. By signing up for an alert (email, facebook, etc) you receive a message when Chris finds something truly exceptional. We are not talking about the usual seat sale by Air Canada or Porter here…. Some of the deals shared were, Montreal to Florida for 177$ (round trip, tx incl) , and Montreal to a number of European destinations for under 700$ (round trip, tx incl). This is way under the usual ticket price. Given that I am based in Montreal, I check out www.yuldeals.com. However, he provides deals for most of the major Canadian airports, so sign up for the airport nearest you.
While the deals are definitely amazing, there are a few things you need to know about this website. (1) You need to be quick to book when you get the email because these deals don’t usually last very long (few seats left, pricing error, etc). (2) Be flexible and impulsive since the dates for travel are usually pretty limiting as well as the airline and destination. (3) Deals don’t come every day so be patient.
