Visiting a Boston Classic: Fenway Park Tour Review

I am not a baseball fan in general, but I heard so many good things about the Fenway Park tour that I knew I had to check it out.  I booked my ticket on-line and headed over to the park on one of the mornings I was visiting Boston.  I immediately noticed how enthusiastic and knowledgeable the main tour guide was.  He offered an engaging history about the park that even a non-baseball fan like myself couldn’t help but stay interested.  Although the groups are rather large (20+ people), there were additional guides on hand to ensure anyone with a question had someone to turn to.  Another great feature of the tour was the pretty unlimited access to different parts of the park.  From the dressing rooms to press room and the different seat sections, it was a pretty thorough visit.  One of the most fascinating thing that I discovered on the tour was the rough world of the scorekeepers who spend their time kneeling in a room behind the score board and running on field to manually change the numbers during games.  I can’t imagine what that must be like in the heat of the summer!  Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and felt that the 18$ was worth it if you have a general interest in sports history (even more so if you like baseball).  It’s also family-friendly and there is a great museum to visit at the end of the tour.
