Observe Wildlife in their Habitat
Gaspesie National park is home to moose, caribou and a number of bird species. Don’t be surprised to see the occasional moose casually strolling along hiking trails especially near water sites during the summer months. Make sure you bring your binoculars for bird watching.
Play in the Water at Cascapaedia Lake
Getting there is quite the adventure as the bumpy, gravel road weaves into the forest before emerging at a beautiful lake amongst the mountainside. You can rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards to enjoy the water. Or simply go for a swim in the fairly shallow waters. If you want to extend your stay, there are cabins available for rent overlooking the lake.
Hike the many Trails
If you want amazing views, you need to be ready to put in the work! Le tour du Mont-Albert trail is 17.4km and for experienced hikers. Otherwise, if you want to take it easy, there are two easier trails Belvédère de la Lucarne and La Chute-St-Anne that are relatively flat, but gives you the option of climbing a lookout tower for a pretty neat view without all the physical effort!
Spend a Night Camping
To take full advantage of everything this Gaspesie National Park has to offer, I recommend staying at least one night. Nothing is more affordable than pitching a tent and making a campfire. All the sites have the usual picnic table and fire-pit and are pretty private. The best part is the view of the mountains.
Enjoy a Meal at the Gite du Mont-Albert
If camping isn’t for you, or you simply want to take a break from the outdoors, head to the Auberge conveniently located in the park. Whether you grab a drink at the Bar or enjoy a sumptuous meal at in their dining room. Also of note, you can order lunchboxes for the next day that you can bring hiking with you eliminating the need to plan meals.
