Rides, cotton candy, tractors, and farm animals… does it get any better than the Expo Ormstown??? Nope!
The Ormstown Fair, as it is commonly referred, is a terrific week-end activity to experience some good ol’ fashion country charm. Also, if you are a fan of the Notebook, then you will be hoping some guy tries to sweep you off your feet by hanging off the ferris wheel… (or maybe not).
Accessing the fair grounds
The fair takes place from Thursday to Sunday and is approximately a 45-minute drive from Montreal. There is a nominal fee to access the grounds for adults, but children under 5 years old are free and there is parking available on-site. If you plan on coming for multiple days than purchasing a pass might make most sense. You can buy the passes online making it very convenient.
Amusement park rides
The rides are not included in the entry and coupons had to be bought for 1$ each or you could purchase a bracelet for 30$ that gives you unlimited access. The rides varied from 3 to 5 coupons and there were some for all ages. I loved riding the ferris wheel and driving bumper cars.
You will find all of your typical fair foods and I got eat some super sweet cotton candy for the first time in yeeearrrs…. So good! I would recommend bringing some health snacks and lots of water (especially if it is suppose to be hot) to not overdose on the sugar and fried foods.
There are a number of livestock competitions that you can attend. I watched a cow competition (4H) and also observed the judges evaluating different chickens. I can’t pretend that I know what they are looking for (is it like dog shows???) but it was interesting to see the extensive collection of chicken including this adorable furry white one.
In addition to livestock exhibitions, the expo features garden and flowers, tractor pull competitions, and musical guests to cap off the day. There is a ton going on so make sure to look over their schedule and not miss anything.
