Children’s Camp – Day 2

Well it’s 10PM and everyone in my dorm is already in bed…. A good indication of the day we had. Essentially the kids arrived about 15 minutes earlier than planned, which kinda threw off the group. Anyways, the camp got underway and immediately it was evident that these kids were older than yesterday’s. The kids are suppose to be between 9 and 12, but they seemed clustered more around 12-13. They gave us a lot of attitude and were difficult to manage. In the morning session my team was out in the camp sites and all the kids wanted to play was cricket…. Even after playing the whole morning, I am still super confused about the rules… All I know is that I hit the ball and got super excited only to be told that I was out cause someone caught it!?!?…. It was interesting to see the gender dynamics in the kids, the boys were super dominant the whole day and we kept having to control them…. In the afternoon, we had crafts and if I ever see another paper Koala I am going to scream lol…. Aside from cutting out koalas, we also did face painting with the kids, which was a good hit. By the time 3PM rolled around we couldn’t wait to send the kids back on the bus! It was a good experience though. Tonight was pretty quiet since everyone was dead tired. Also, last night we went out to eat at a NON Indian place. I had pumpkin risotto, it wasn’t bad, I also ordered my first Kingfisher beer, which is locally brewed. To be honest, it tastes just like water…. So yeah, I took advantage tonight to wash my clothes and start packing my backpack cause my last days will be busy. I also started buying souvenirs, Denis – I got you the lamest thing ever, but I am convinced you will love it 🙂 So hard to shop for guys in India. My backpack weighs about the same as when I left, not bad….. Just hope nothing breaks in transit. If there are any special requests let me know. I think I am keeping my dorm up, so will sign off. Cheers!
