I can hardly believe that I am writing this last entry from my bedroom back home. Lets go back a bit… My last day in Goa was a busy one. Spent a large part of the day lounging on the beach before heading out to see the churches in Old Goa. A highlight was seeing the body of St-Francis that has been amazingly preserved. It was also nice to visit a church rather than another temple. I had dominoe pizza for supper, trying to rehabilitate my stomach to western cuisine LOL and then met some people for drinks by the beach. It was just so nice to sit underneath the stars and hear the waves of the water in the background. I felt like chaining myself to the table. I woke up a few hours after I went to bed and felt ill again and I spiked a fever. Not fun. I was up all night feeling sick and shivering, which majorly sucked. By the time the morning came around, I could barely stand and I still had my entire bag to pack. It’s a miracle I ever made it out of my room and to the Goa airport. I had an OK flight to Mumbai and managed to catch up on some sleep. In Mumbai, I was arrived at the domestic terminal and needed to switch to the international one. I got myself informed and a worker issued me a shuttle ticket. At 7:30 PM, I arrived at the international terminal only to be told that I was not allowed inside until 10PM (for security reasons only passengers are allowed inside airports)! So I was forced to wait sitting on the floor on the outside of the building (with NO toilets) for 2.5 hours. I wanted to cry (again). I slept for the first hour but then I was getting super ansy and nothing to do. Luckily, there was this young indian guy from the US that was sitting next to me and we got to chatting. That helped make the time pass by much faster and it was fun to count the number of Indians that would pass by and stare at us (I think we got to 50 in 10 min)! Luckily my flight from Mumbai to Munich was quite good and I slept through most of it. By the time I got to Munich I was feeling pretty good and decided to venture into the city since I had a 10 hour layover. Munich is such a cute city, I would love to live there. Since it was early morning, many museums were closed but I walked around and enjoyed the silence. I had some German food and loaded up on amazing desserts. The whole outing went smoothly and was back at the airport in time for my last flight. Again, I had a nice flight back to Montreal, with no one sitting next to me. I watched Eat, Pray, Love on the plane and I can’t say I enjoyed the film. I will say that the scene when she first arrives to India is pretty accurate in it’s representation.
Now I have been home for a few days and like all great trips, they seem like a dream. In retrospect, I am really happy I went… it was a good way to seperate my time in Edmonton from moving back home. I was so pleased to walk into my room this week and see everything organized as oppose to the chaos I was living in during the month of December. Funny enough it looks like my next trip will be back to Edmonton at the end of March for some job training. Not nearly as exciting as India, but it will be nice to see the city again. For all those who have read my blog and been commenting, thanks so much. Always nice to know I am writing for an audience! I am going to upload some pictures here…. enjoy!
