It seems Mother Nature knows exactly when to turn on the heat. Every year summer officially starts with the arrival of the Formula 1 competition in. Montreal. With the temperature rising, I went looking for a new cocktail that wouldn’t dehydrate from hours spent in the sun. I am not a huge fan of fruity drinks so I opted to try a Gin Tonic. While the bitter taste of the tonic (caused by the presence of Quinine) is not for everyone, it’s definitely a refreshing option for hot days. More importantly it’s incredibly easy to make. Here’s a basic recipe for Gin Tonic:
1. Fill a high ball (AKA tall glass) with ice
2. Add two ounces of Gin (I used Bombay Sapphire)
3. Squeeze a quarter of lime and drop it into the glass
4. Fill the glass with cold Tonic water
5. Add a sprig of mint for extra flare
When I wasn’t drinking on the patio this week-end, I participated in the 2014 Games of Hope. An annual event that raises money for different children’s charity. I also headed down to Crescent street to enjoy the F1 follies on Saturday night. Overall a satisfying start to the summer!
