Thanks to jet lag I was in bed pretty early last night (before 9PM), so naturally I was awake at 6AM this morning. Having skipped on dinner the previous evening I was starved and headed to Cafe Verona for an authentic American breakfast, Montecristo sandwich with hash browns. Yum! Afterwards, I walked around the downtown (basically 3 streets) to visit the different shops and really appreciate the effort the town has put in to deliver a Bavarian experience. I was surprised to discover some amazing food stores with creative and unique products which were just waiting to be sampled. Keep on eye out in the coming days for a Leavenworth recommended food tour! There were lots of knick knack stores and one incredibly awesome vintage store with furniture, decorations, and dishware. After a midday pit stop at the Munchen House beer garden, i visited the Nutcracker museum. I had read that it had the world’s largest collection but for a mere 2.50$, I wasn’t expecting very much. Boy was I wrong, it was AMAZING! So many different kinds and themes, just incredibly and highly recommended. Later in the afternoon, I headed to the Waterfront Park to walk one of the easier trails. It was just beautiful and the river has been transformed into a salmon breeding ground so you could see the occasional fish jump out of the water. To end the evening I took advantage of the happy hour specials at the Bavarian Bistro and finally some Manicotti at the Alley Cafe. I am now stuffed and relaxing with some TV and going to be planning my day in Seattle tomorrow. Definitely enjoyed my trip out to Leavenworth!
