Heading out this morning I was hopefully the weather would hold up and maybe a few glimmers of sunlight. The first stop was Top Pot Doughnut shop for a caffeine and sugar fix. The plan was to walk the ‘downtown’ and then head down to the waterfront. Well it turns out there isn’t much to see downtown Seattle and the water front is undergoing major construction so it left a lot to be desired. With that said I found this AMAZING antique shop with so many beautiful pieces of furniture. I fell in love with a Dentist cabinet from 1910 complete with a white marble top and glass knobs. Sigh! It’s so unique and practical! Definitely on my future furniture buying list…. I also spotted more than a few pieces of dishware my grandmother once owned 😉 Disappointed by the waterfront I headed straight for Pike Place Market. Eh boy! It was PACKED with people and yummy food. The flowers, seafood, and fresh fruit makes it colorful and tempting at the same time. For lunch I gave in to the hype and went to Pike Place Chowder for some… Seafood bisque (lol) and Dungeness crab roll. It was creamy, flavorful and had lots of seafood inside. In the future though I say skip the roll and upgrade the soup size. Another tour of the market and then went searching for Gum alley. It was every bit as gross and impressive as you would expect. Equipped with Hubba Bubba I made my own contribution to the wall. The last stop of the afternoon was a 2pm Pike Place Brewery free tour. The leader was super knowledgeable and very informative on the beer making process. Since I had an early morning the next day, the evening concluded early with beer and tacos… Budget tip: take advantage of those happy hours!!! Off to Victoria, BC tomorrow.
