A Food Guide to the Best Sweets in Gaspésie

There are so many local flavours to try in the Gaspésie region that you could spend your day just eating.  For an in-depth list of all what is available I strongly recommend you download the Gaspésie Gourmand magazine put together by the tourism board (link here).  With so many options, here are the places that I found were great for satisfying my sweet tooth and you should definitely check out:

1. Pâtisserie-boulangerie MARIE4poche (111 Boulevard Ste-Anne Ouest, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts).  This growing bakery offers all the usual freshly baked goods, but I actually fell in love with their sweet caramel popcorn that makes the perfect snack to munch during a road trip.

2. Choco-Lactée, confiserie-chocolaterie (107, rue de la Reine, Gaspé).  With two locations in different cities (there is also one in Percé), this place is designed to give you a sugar rush by housing just about every candy imaginable.  You can purchase their local confectionary products or buy a childhood favourite like ring pops and pixie sticks.

3. Chocolaterie Couleur Chocolat (36 2e Rue O, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts). Located just up the road from the river front, stop by to pick up a box of their Forestry Chocolate which has four innovative flavours featuring the outdoors by including extracts of fir and poplar trees for example.

4. Aux Glace de L’Anse (58 rue à bonfils, L’Anse au Beau-fils). If you can manage more sugar, than artisanal ice cream is definitely a must. Tucked away just off route 132 in a marina, keep a look out for this place!  Their ice cream and sorbets are made on-site and features local products.
Lanseauxglace
5. Un p’tit air sucré (515 bl. Pabos, Pabos).  This place is a great stop as it features delectable hand-made chocolate but also sell a variety of yummy spreads (my fave is the salted caramel) and gourmet salts.  You can also find natural beauty products that can make a great (and useful) souvenir.
Do you have a favourite spot to satisfy your sweet tooth?
