Travelling is meant to be fun, exciting, and stress-free. To keep it that way, here are some of my travel tips that I have learned over the years. Make sure to leave you own recommendations in the comments below!
- Keep copies of your passport and other important documents in your email account or a virtual drive so you can access them from anywhere
- Find a travel credit card that minimises international currency transaction fees
- Have spare batteries for your camera (especially since DSLR cameras eat batteries) and your phone
- Keep jewellery to a minimum, don’t bring anything you would be devastated if you lost
- Always dress on the more modest side to be respectful
- Bring the most comfortable pair of shoes you own, don’t bring a new pair unless you enjoy having blistered feet.
- Learn a few key phrases in the local language, it can be helpful and endearing.
- Verify the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention website for any health advisories
- Book a visit to a travel clinic to make sure your immunization are up to date and to get any pills for Malaria or other illnesses
- Bring an empty reusable water bottle that you can fill up after passing security so you can stay hydrated during your travels
