A few week-ends ago, I was debating where I should go hiking between my usual destination in Mont-Orford or something more local like Mont Saint-Hilaire or Mont-Saint-Bruno. I finally decided to head to Saint-Bruno because I had heard about a tea house in the park and I was curious to check it out.
Visiting the Salon de Thé
The tea house is called the “Salon de Thé Le Vieux-Moulin” and is located inside the Mont-Saint-Bruno National park. The tea house is accessible by hiking a fairly flat, gravel trail approximately 2km in length. The park itself has multiple trails of which two of them will lead you to the tea house (the Seigneurial, and the Monteregien). Prior to heading to the tea house I completed the Monteregien trail and the cooler weather made it perfect for a stop to warm up. I immediately loved the restored stone building and the adorable vintage furniture and decor. As expected the tea house served tea, but also coffee and a selection of pastries. I opted for the chai latte, while my hiking partner selected a large cafe latte. I thought the pricing was reasonable and comparable to other coffee places.
Since the weather was beautiful outdoors, I took advantage of sitting on one of the many andirondack chairs set up outside. I thought the tree stump tables to put your drinks, were a nice rustic touch. Both myself and partner were satisfied with our drink choices. The chai latte was super creamy with a hint of spice and sweetness. I would definitely recommend dropping by for a warm drink, or just to enjoy the beautiful landscape around. I also think this would make a great first date idea, if you are both outdoor lovers!
Important Details
Since it is inside the national park, you need to pay the regular park access fee to visit unless you have a park pass. Also, the tea house is only open on the week-ends (as well as holidays) and has limited hours that vary throughout the seasons (10:30AM – 4PM, except the summer that is closes at 5PM).
