On a roadtrip to Quebec City a while back I found myself staying at Hotel Marie Rollet. It was a last minute decision to head out of town which made booking a room in Old Quebec a rather difficult task. Great location often comes at a trade off with a high price, but I was thrilled when I found Hotel Marie Rollet in Quebec on booking.com (which is my fave website because they have unreal customer service, like you can call and talk to actual person 24/7… But I digress). At 135$ for one night, I booked immediately!
Hotel Marie Rollet (81 rue Saint Anne) is located in a beautiful stone building built in 1876 facing the Hotel-de-Ville plaza. The name of the hotel is a nod to the past, as Marie Rollet was the wife of Louis Hébert. They were were the first French family that settled in the city of Quebec.
In keeping with the historical past, the pictures online of Hotel Marie Rollet seemed like it featured a modern Victorian vibe. Luckily, the actual place was as pictured. I loved the stunning red leather studded doors and the winding staircases with large crystal chandelier.
The hotel room
My room was very spacious dotted with lovely vintage furniture and a grand fireplace. Admittedly the bathroom was a little cramped when comparing to the room size. But it got the job done even with limited counter space.
The room was clean and I thought the bed was quite comfortable. I was on the first floor facing the street making it not ideal for privacy but the sheer curtains filtered light in while still keeping curious people in the dark! I was worried about noise at night, however it was quiet.
Some of the perks
One of the perks was free coffee being served on the main floor in the morning. Nothing fancy, but a nice touch when you want a warm drink while getting ready. If the weather isn’t too cold there is a roof top deck with some tables and chairs that gives you a nice vantage point of the city. There is also free wifi available.
While there is no parking included right across the street is the public hotel de cille parking lot making it very convenient if you arriving by car.
The location is great as you are centrally located inside old Quebec within walking distance of major attractions and lots of restaurants. For breakfast I definitely recommend checking out the Cochon Dingue in Petit-Champlain. My full review is available here.
