Delays, delays, delays and oh yeah delays….

Well I am not very lucky when it comes to transport in India….
After a really nice going away ceremony from Sangam, I left for Pune airport at 4:30PM for my flight to Delhi scheduled to leave at 6:30PM. Priyanka (the admin staff) had told me I could leave at like 5PM because it was quick to check in, but I said, ‘let’s not jinx it’… HA… I get to pune airport at 4:45 and discover it is basically one big room where security, waiting and check in takes place… More importantly, I notice a revision to my expected departure time… 8:15PM… so that sucked majorly and I contemplated going back to Sangam, but I figured I could just wait it out… Fast forward, I check the board and the time has been revised AGAIN, now it is 9:00PM… More time elapses and they announce it will leave at 9:25PM… During this time I am getting stressed about getting to Delhi in the middle of the night, whether my transfer will be waiting and if airport officials are using these delays to rummage through my bag, steal my stuff and plant cocaine… fun times… So at it nears 8PM and I think that I am finally going to get to board, they announce that, you guessed it, the flight will leave at 10:20PM… Crappers….The good news is that we did leave at 10:20, landed in Delhi at 12:30 and my transfer was waiting… Apparently he had been at the aiport since 8:30 when I was first expected to arrive. Again, it was nerve wracking being driven in the middle of the night to some random location. But I did make it and was in bed by 1:30AM. Problem was that I needed to be ready at 5AM for a train ride to Agra. So I didn’t sleep much because I was paranoid that I would miss my alarm clock. So that was my adventure in and out of Delhi. Some other tidbits… my tour group consists of 12 girls and 2 boys from Norway, Australia, Denmark, UK and of course Canada. As it turns out, I have my own room which is a blessing and a curse, cause while I have my own space, it makes it hard to socialize esp. since most are already in groups. I am going to write more trip details in my next post…. keep reading!
