Jaipur and Pushkar…

Where to begin… Well we left Agra by bus for the city of Jaipur. As it turns out we stayed at this really cute family owned inn and I got kicked out of the building and sent to sleep in the tree lol… Actually, it was a special room called the tree top room, that was accessed by spiral staircases fromt he outside. Very pretty, the only catch is that it has no insulation and so it was deathly cold at night…. I wore my tuque and mitts to stay warm. Jaipur was a nice city, we started the adventure with riding an elephant up a hill to visit the Amber Palace. We then went to take picture of the water palace and finally toured the city palace…. yup, lots of palaces… I also rode a cycle rickshaw! OMG, I thought the guy pedaling was going to die of exhaustion, I guess I put on some weight on this trip 🙂 I also did some shopping in Jaipur, was in a shop with the owner who seemed to love the haggling process so it seemed like an eternity before we settled on a price. Got some lovely shawls, pillow covers and bangles. Of course this has eaten up much of the free space in my backpack so I am starting to run out of space, may need to get a bigger carry on bag!!! Yesterday night I went to visit the Scout headquarters that was near our hotel… I expected an office building and it turned out to be a camp site with 200 super excited girl scouts… So I got to meet all of them and take picutres and walk around.. They were all very sweet, I even managed to scare off a baby with my white skin. Today we journeyed to Pushkar, it is in the mountains and desert. As others have described, laid-back and hippy. Nothing much to see there but the market place and the only hindu temple dedicated to Rahma. I did get to walk barefoot in the streets and all I could hear was Christina, “your going to get hepatitis!”. Again I got kicked out of the main building at the hotel we are staying at, this time for a pool side cottage lol.. yes the accommodations have been much better since Agra. The only catch is that once again the room is FREEZING… Also, monkeys have been having a great time jumping on the roofs. Tomorrow I am getting up at 5AM to go hike a mountain to see the sunrise and in the evening I am doing a camel safari (yuppers!) I also intend on doing more shopping… no surprise there… Overall, it is going well. I do have a new appreciation for Rusell Peters comedy show, Red White and Brown, the parts about Indians are way funnier now that I have been to India… Next stop will be Udaipur for some romance!

So fun!!!!!!! This sounds like the most exciting part so far! Riding an elephant, a cycle rickshaw, soon a camel… All the palaces… Sleeping outside with monkeys jumping on your rooftop!… (Btw, you say you were “kicked out”… wanna elaborate on that? :D) And I'm sure you loved your visit at the Scout center, considering how excited you would get in Europe just visiting the offices!!! LOL 🙂 K, keep having fun & thanks for the phone call! xx

The elephant part is pretty cool! And you scared a baby?? that is soooo funny lol Did you take a picture of the monkeys? If you see them outside, that is awesome. And I know exactly what you are referring to about Russell Peters. I can only imagine how much his jokes are better now that you experienced it! Enjoy!
