Bonbon Collections: An Allergen-Free and Vegan Bake Shop

If you have been following my blog for a while you know that my nephew has a dairy and peanut allergy.  Thankfully awareness to allergies is increasing and so have the number of allergen friendly foods and places to eat.  A while ago I posted about a bakery that made the most amazing vegan paris-brest, but sadly that place was quite the drive away from where I live.  Therefore, I was thrilled when Bonbon Collections opened at the Longueuil Market (being a South-Shore of Montreal girl myself!).  This allergen-free and vegan shop, not only serves up sweet baked treats, but also has gluten-free pizza and of course candy.  During my visit, I decided to test out their cupcakes and chocolate pie.

VEGAN CUPCAKES

For the cupcakes I opted for three different frosting flavours on both chocolate and vanilla cake: salted caramel, blueberry, and strawberry.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the creaminess of the icing and the fluffiness of the cake dough.  The standout for me was the blueberry paired with the chocolate cake.  Aside from the adorable presentation, I liked the contrast between the tartness of the blueberry and the sweetness of the chocolate.  My least favorite was the salted caramel with vanilla cake, but I honestly think they were less fresh, so the cake was more dense and crumbly.  I also felt it could have a stronger caramel flavour in the frosting.

CHOCOLATE GOODNESS

As for the chocolate pie, I honestly couldn’t tell it apart from a regular, non-vegan pie.  The filling was rich and creamy, while the crumble crust brought a balance in texture.  For those that like their desserts sweet and chocolate-y, you will definitely enjoy this pie.  Otherwise, the shop also had a maple version available during my visit.

MORE OPTIONS

Aside from their baked goods, they also have a collection of candy and chocolate on sale. You can enjoy ice cream on-site or buy a larger container to take home.  There is even cotton candy, which I thought was nice touch. If you are looking for a whimsical cake, the shop has 3 dimensional cakes that would be perfect for kids parties.  There selection and flavors seem to vary with the season, so there is always something new to discover.

PRICING

With regards to pricing, I thought it was quite reasonable compared to what I have seen when it comes to purchasing specialty food items.  A box of 6 cupcakes was 20$ and the pie was priced at 4.50$.

BONBON COLLECTIONS LOCATION

Having discovered the Bonbon Collections in Longueuil, I am super happy to have a bakeshop that caters to my nephew nearby.  If you make stopover at the Longueuil Market, also make sure to check out the other stores and stop for a beer at the local microbrewery, Le Barrage Brasseurs.  We know my fondness for microbrews!
The Bonbon Collections is located at 200 Ch de la Savane.  Also of note, they have another location in Boisbriand and you can order online.
